HAV was honored to provide the lighting design for Milestones of Arabia, a remarkable exhibition that sheds new light—both figuratively and literally—on one of the oldest trade routes in the region. Based on over 15 years of groundbreaking research by Professor Abdullah Alkadi, the installation presents the discovery of 55 ancient milestones dating back to the 8th and 9th centuries CE.
Spanning across the historic Caravan Trade Route, these stone markers once guided travelers across the vast Arabian landscape. With precise lighting, we aimed to enhance the textures, inscriptions, and surrounding visual elements, allowing visitors to engage deeply with this forgotten chapter of regional history.
The exhibition is accompanied by a beautifully crafted recto-verso book, showcasing never-before-seen photographs, desert vistas, historical maps, and commissioned artworks that celebrate Arabia’s enduring heritage.
