HAV Professional is honored to have contributed the lighting design for AlMakkatain: Between the Brush and the Lens, a museum installation exploring how Makkah and Madinah were visually documented over the centuries.

Before the invention of photography in 1839, depictions of the Two Holy Mosques came from travelers, pilgrims, and orientalists who translated their experiences into detailed drawings and engravings. These artworks, often idealized, were the only visual records of the sacred cities available to the wider world.

The exhibition contrasts these artistic impressions with some of the earliest photographs ever taken of the holy sites, offering a powerful narrative of how visual storytelling evolved—from imagination to documentation.

Our lighting work was designed to highlight this transition and enrich the visitor’s journey through time.
